Awards
The practice invests many resources into training and supporting our staff and we were proud to achieve ‘Investors in People’ in 2003, this is re-evaluated every three years with 2006 being the last inspection.
Projects
Recently the practice has become one of eight practices in North Cumbria looking into the quality of data recoding in general practice. This is a new local initiative and is based on the national PRIMIS project. This project should greatly improve knowledge about North Cumbria patients, giving rise to better informed decisions.
In collaboration with the Cardiology Department at Carlisle Hospitals the practice is involved in a study to investigate Heart Attack survivors. The research is organised by the British Heart Foundation and is part of a national study.
The Practice has been involved with the British Regional Heart Study from the beginning of the project over 20 years ago. A large number of men aged 60 to 80 years who are registered with the practice are still involved with the project. These men are due to be re-examined in July of this year, having been examined initially some twenty years ago. The British Regional Heart Study has been a very important national project and to date has over 200 published papers to its name. The practice feels privileged to be part of such an important study.
